Zvi Mairovich
Israeli
1911-1974
Zvi Mairovich was an important Israeli abstract painter. Born in Poland, he moved to Berlin in 1929, studying painting with Karl Hofer in Berlin. In 1934 he immigrated to Haifa, Israel. Mairovich was one of the founders of the "New Horizons" group of Israeli artists, which typically explored abstract and avant-garde painting techniques. Zvi Mairovich won the Dizengoff prize on several occasions, and exhibited at the Venice Biennial, Sao Paulo Biennial, and major museums worldwide.
