William
Lionel Wyllie was a British painter and printmaker who specialized
in marine and Thames River subjects. W.L. Wyllie was an Associate
of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and a member of the New
English Art Club, the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours,
and the Royal Academy. At the turn of the 19th century, Wyllie
was regarded as one of the premier marine painters in the world.
