William
McNulty, a Rockport artist, was a well-known painter and printmaker
whose work was widely exhibited during the mid-twentieth century.
McNulty's prints were regularly seen in prominent New York galleries
such as Macbeth Gallery and Kraushaar Gallery as well as museums
such as the Art Institure of Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum
of Art, and the Whitney. Today, his work is in major public and
private collections. This print of New York, "In the Fifties"
or "Whirlpool," was included in the 1930 edition of
Fine Prints of the Year.
