Mavis Pusey Born in Jamaica, Mavis Pusey studied at the Art Student's League. A highly regarded abstract painter and graphic artist (she participated in Robert Blackburn's Printmaking Workshop), Mavis Pusey is the recipient of Pollock-Krasner Foundation and Tiffany Foundation grants whose work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the New York Public Library. Pusey was included in countless major exhibitions, including the Whitney's 1971 Contemporary Black Artists in America and the traveling exhibition African-American Works on Paper. |
