Joseph
Kaplan, a New York and Provincetown artist, studied at the National
Academy of Design in the 1920s. He exhibited widely during subsequent
decades, including exhibitions at the Corcoran Gallery, Audubon
Artists, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the Provincetown
Art Assocation. He was an important figure in the Provincetown
art colony, living and working there for many years, and became
an honorary vice-president and trustee of the Provincetown Art
Association in 1955. His work is in major public and private
collections.
