Hugo Crosthwaite
Mexican
b. 1971

Hugo Crosthwaite was born in Mexico and studied at San Diego State University. Hugo Crosthwaite was the subject of a recent solo exhibition at the San Diego Museum of Art. In addition, Crosthwaite has exhibited at Noel-Baza Fine Art in San Diego, the High Museum in Atlanta, Weatherspoon Art Museum in North Carolina, and the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery, and Mason-Murer Fine Art in Atlanta. According to a 2010 review in Art in America, Hugo Crosthwaite's "drawings often read like montages, fluidly joining descriptions of physical environments with penetrating glimpses of psychological interiority and vulnerability. Crosthwaite’s exquisite rendering skills and sense of graphic immediacy enable him to pull off these shifts, to conjure scenes that are part chronicle and part dream, and convincing as both among many others.
