Edith A. Smith

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Edith Smith studied with George Harvey at the Victoria School of Art and Design. She shared a studio in Halifax with her brother Lewis Smith. Smith taught in her studio as well as at Victoria School of Art and Halifax Ladies’ College. Edith Smith is considered an important figure in Nova Scotia art and art education. Her work is in the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and the Dalhousie University Art Gallery. This painting was exhibited at the Annual Exhibition of the Nova Scotia Society of Artists.
