Fritz Scholder Fritz Scholder was one of the most highly regarded Native American artists of the last century. He studied with Wayne Thiebaud in California and later received an M.F.A. from the University of Arizona. Scholder worked and taught in Santa Fe in the 1960s and accepted an invitation from the famed Tamarind Institute to produce the "Indians Forever Suite." Scholder has received awards and fellowships from the Whitney Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Scholder exhibited at the Smithsonian, Basel Art Fair, the Museum of Modern Art, the Phoenix Art Museum, and countless others. |
